Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined Crystal Palace and Newcastle United in the race to sign Cenk Tosun.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to watch Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun ahead of the January transfer window.
Spurs’ leading striker Harry Kane is enjoying a strong month after his usual August struggles, whilst manager Mauricio Pochettino also decided on late decisions over his strikers.
Fernando Llorente arrived from Swansea City to provide additional firepower, whilst Vincent Janssen was farmed out on loan to Turkish club Fenerbahce.
Now, it seems that Tottenham are keeping tabs on a striker in Turkey, but it isn’t Janssen ahead of a possible return to London, but Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun is the man on Tottenham’s radar.
The Daily Mail report that Tottenham have made checks on Tosun ahead of the January transfer window, with the possibility of making a move for him in 2018.
It’s noted that Besiktas would want around £17.5million for his signature, with Spurs now joining the race for his signature after both Crystal Palace and Newcastle United failed with late moves for him last month.
Tosun, 26, was born in Germany and came through the Eintracht Frankfurt youth ranks, but has made his name in Turkey with 44 goals in 122 games for Gaziantepspor, earning a 2014 move to Besiktas.
Since heading to Besiktas, Tosun has been prolific, hitting 50 goals in his first three seasons with the club, whilst his record this term stands at two goals in five games – and his goals are attracting interest.
Adding another striker would be a surprise for Spurs after signing Llorente, but Tosun could be another option for Pochettino if he feels he needs more firepower, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle and Palace make moves in January.
