Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks to sell Toby Alderweireld to Manchester United.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United have started talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal to sign defender Toby Alderweireld – but may have to pay a whopping £75million.
The Red Devils are set to splash the cash again this summer having come up short behind local rivals Manchester City in the Premier League this season, with manager Jose Mourinho unsurprisingly keen on new faces.
Another central defender may well be targeted, given that Victor Lindelof didn’t convince in his first Premier League season, whilst question marks surround both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly.
Now, The Mirror report that United have now opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal for Toby Alderweireld, with the Belgian ace seemingly set for a move this summer.

The 29-year-old has been a key player for Spurs ever since signing from Atletico Madrid back in the summer of 2015, but he has fallen out of favour this season due to a combination of contract uncertainty, injury and the form of Davinson Sanchez.
Alderweireld has a release clause which can be activated next summer, and with Spurs so far unable to come up with a renewal offer to suit him, a summer exit looks inevitable.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy certainly won’t want to sell to another Premier League club, and as a result would demand around £75million for Alderweireld, as that’s the fee Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk in January.
It remains to be seen whether United would be willing to pay that fee, but with talks seemingly underway, Alderweireld could be heading to Old Trafford this summer.
