According to RMC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur are in discussions with Nice midfielder Jean Seri’s representatives about a summer move.
Spurs enjoyed another superb under Mauricio Pochettino, but they again fell just short of winning the Premier League title, and new additions will be needed to try and finally reach top spot.
Pochettino will be keen to make impact signings considerable better than the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Vincent Janssen, who have flattered to deceive since arriving last summer.
Central midfield is one area where Pochettino may look for improvements, given that Eric Dier has dropped back to play in a three-man defence, leaving little depth behind Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele in the middle of the park, with Harry Winks injured.
Now, RMC Sport report that Tottenham have entered into discussions with the representatives of Nice midfielder Jean Seri, in a bid to win the race for his signature.
It’s stated that manager Pochettino is a big fan of Seri, and Spurs have subsequently kickstarted a move for the midfielder – but Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Roma and even Beijing Guoan are also keen.
Seri, 25, hit seven goals and nine assists from midfield for Nice this past season, and the Ivorian possesses the drive and technical ability through the middle of the park to challenge Mousa Dembele – and possibly be the signing Spurs hoped Moussa Sissoko would be.

The report claims that Nice want no less than the €40million release clause in his contract though, meaning that chairman Daniel Levy would have to break the club’s transfer record and fork out £35million.
A notoriously frugal chairman, Levy may not be too keen on doing that with a new stadium on the way, unless players such as Sissoko, Kevin Wimmer and even Kyle Walker leave the club to fund such a huge deal, with Pochettino seemingly pushing for Seri to join him in North London.
