Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to bid for William Saliba.

According to RMC Sport, Tottenham Hotspur have contacted Saint-Etienne to tell them that they’ll bid for defender William Saliba in a matter of hours.

Saliba, 18, has emerged into the Saint-Etienne first team having arrived in 2016, and he’s now one of the top talents in French football.

The defender starred this past season, playing 16 Ligue 1 games whilst showing strength, aerial ability and a fine reading of the game beyond his years.

It’s now believed that Tottenham have contacted the French side, and have told them that they’ll bid for Saliba in a matter of hours as they formulate an approach.

Saint-Etienne are now seemingly braced for an offer, and Spurs swooping in could be a massive blow for North London rivals Arsenal, as they’re chasing a €30million (£27million) deal.

The Gunners allegedly have a personal agreement with Saliba but have yet to agree a deal with Saint-Etienne, meaning Spurs have a golden chance to steal in and take the teenager, which would surely leave Unai Emery’s men gutted.

Saliba would be an outstanding capture for Spurs, giving Mauricio Pochettino one of the world’s most talented teenage centre backs as he considers life beyond Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.

By adding Saliba, Spurs would be able to develop him, Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez to take over in the coming years, and that should be hugely appealing.
