Everton have reportedly nipped in to sign Santiago Sosa ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are facing work permit problems with River Plate midfielder Santiago Sosa – and have nipped in ahead of Tottenham Hotspur to agree a deal.
The Toffees are expected to make a number of signings this summer, and Marcel Brands will be looking for midfielders to bolster Marco Silva’s engine room.
Brands appears to be going down the route of unearthing a gem rather than signing a big name for now though, with River Plate ace Sosa linked with a move to Goodison Park for weeks.
The Daily Mail note that Tottenham want Sosa too, but Everton have got in ahead of them by agreeing a £13million deal for the 20-year-old, who has barely even featured for River’s first team.
However, Everton are facing work permit problems for Sosa, meaning that they’ll be waiting to hear the verdict of an appeal to hear whether he’ll be allowed to join.

With Argentina out of the Under-20 World Cup, Sosa is now thought to be heading to Everton in the coming days, to finalise the terms of his transfer.
Sadly, the situation won’t be done then, and Everton may face a nervous wait as they attempt to get Sosa into the Premier League as an ‘exceptional talent’, much as they did with Ramiro Funes Mori following his 2015 move from River to Goodison Park.
