Tottenham are reportedly pressing ahead with a move for Joachim Andersen.

According to BT in Denmark, Tottenham Hotspur have held several meetings with the entourage of Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen as they attempt to sign him.

Spurs have fears about Toby Alderweireld’s future, and whilst they have Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez in the background, Mauricio Pochettino may be keen to get another young defender in.

Sampdoria star Andersen has been linked with Spurs for months now, and the 23-year-old would feature highly on a list of potential Alderweireld replacements after a superb season in Italy.

Tottenham are now believed to have held a series of meetings with Andersen’s agents about a potential move to North London, ramping up their interest in the Danish centre back.

However, any move would see Tottenham run into a familiar foe; Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas. It’s claimed that Lyon have joined the race for Andersen, and may challenge Spurs for his signature.

Aulas is known as a tough negotiator, and Spurs are having enough trouble with him this summer as they attempt to convince him to sell star midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Their efforts have hit a brick wall so far, and the worst case scenario would be missing out on Ndombele and then seeing Andersen join Lyon instead.

Aulas will be hoping to make that a reality, but Tottenham do appear to be in a strong place having made their interest abundantly clear to the defender’s representatives.
