Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly failed with a move for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

According to a report from Goal, Tottenham Hotspur made a £25million deadline day bid for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham – and whilst the player wanted the move, the offer was rejected.

Spurs endured a frustrating summer transfer window, as they failed to make a single signing to boost Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, becoming the first Premier League club to fail to make a signing since the summer transfer window was introduced.

Fans have been left bemused by the lack of activity, and whilst Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish was the main player Spurs missed out on, another one appears to be emerging.

Goal report that Tottenham offered £25million for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on deadline day, but the Blues rejected their offer as they didn’t want to lose him to a direct rival.

Abraham is understood to have wanted a move to Spurs, where he would have been the second-choice striker behind Harry Kane, but any move was blocked.

The 20-year-old finds himself behind Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud at Stamford Bridge, and whilst he wouldn’t have been first-choice at Tottenham, he may have seen more playing time under Mauricio Pochettino.

Abraham hit eight goals in 39 games on loan for Swansea last season, but has made just three first-team appearances for Chelsea despite being one of English football’s top young strikers.

Abraham may yet still leave Chelsea on loan, but if he doesn’t depart, then it will be fascinating to see if Tottenham increase their alleged bid in an effort to tempt Chelsea into a deal – but it may be an uphill battle regardless.
