Tottenham Hotspur don’t seem to be any closer to appointing a new permanent manager.

Spurs parted company with Antonio Conte in March in wake of his controversial post-Southampton press conference.

Cristian Stellini is in interim charge for the time being, likely until the end of the season.

According to the Daily Mail, there are now three different managerial preferences doing the rounds.

A faction has emerged at Spurs pushing for a British manager such as Graham Potter to get the job.

However, Daniel Levy appears to have other ideas. He reportedly has his eyes on Vincent Kompany.

Meanwhile, the Tottenham players are allegedly pushing for Mauricio Pochettino to return to N17.

Our view

Potter certainly seemed like a great shout for Tottenham two years ago.

At the time, football.london reported that some Spurs players loved what they saw from Potter’s Brighton side when they’d come up against them.

Indeed, they were apparently open to Tottenham moving for the 47-year-old.

However, Spurs fans could now be thinking twice about Potter’s suitability at the highest level after struggling with Chelsea.

At the same time, you’ll always have managers for whom it just doesn’t work out at one club, but they bounce back with another club.

Potter’s style of play certainly fits Tottenham, so it’s certainly one to watch in the coming weeks and months.

If Kompany decides to stick with Burnley, then Levy’s first-choice will be gone.

Could it potentially be Pochettino, the player’s choice, or Potter, the emerging faction’s favourite?
