Tottenham are reportedly keen on Atletico Madrid’s Nicolas Gaitan.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move to sign Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Gaitan on loan during this month’s transfer window.
Spurs made it six Premier League wins in a row last Wednesday as they beat London rivals Chelsea 2-0 at White Hart Lane, and they’ve now closed the gap to top spot to seven points.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has rarely made big changes to his side in previous January transfer windows, and few Tottenham fans are expecting major activity this time around either.

However, The Mirror report that Tottenham do have an interest in one player, as they could make a move to sign Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Gaitan.
Gaitan, 28, hit 41 goals in 253 games for Benfica following a 2010 move from Boca Juniors in his native Argentina, and his performances for Benfica earned him a big-money move to Atletico Madrid last summer after years of speculation of a move away from the Estadio da Luz.

Gaitan was seen as a huge signing for Diego Simeone, but he’s started just five games this season, and has struggled to make an impact with the La Liga side so far, scoring only two goals and registering no assists for the Champions League outfit
It’s now suggested that Gaitan would be keen on a loan move away from Atletico in order to play first-team football until the end of the season, and Tottenham are considering a move.
Pochettino will be well aware of what his compatriot can do, but Gaitan is nearly 29, making him a little older than players Tottenham usually target under Pochettino.
Add in that the left-footed winger is another player with great technique rather than blistering speed – just like Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Heung-min Son – and it’s unclear whether Gaitan is really the man Tottenham should be targeting.
In fact, after another bright cameo against Aston Villa on Sunday, Pochettino may be better off putting his faith in young winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, whose direct running and superb pace offers something different to the Tottenham attack.
The summer signing is willing to run at defenders, and if Spurs have lacked one thing this season, it’s speed in the final third. Former Marseille star Nkoudou offers that injection of pace that Pochettino needs, whereas Gaitan – as talented as he is – may be more of the same for Spurs.
