Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Giovani Lo Celso appears to be gathering pace again.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are set to ramp up their interest in Giovani Lo Celso – and it could be another club-record deal.
Spurs broke their transfer record earlier this summer by signing French international Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, representing a huge move by Mauricio Pochettino after nearly 18 months without a signing.
Pochettino has been pursuing Lo Celso too though, and whilst a move appeared to have gone cold earlier this month, Spurs seem to be back in the hunt.
It’s claimed that Lo Celso has told Real Betis that he wants to join Spurs this summer, and Tottenham are set to make their move in what would be another club-record deal.
Lo Celso could cost around £70million, and a move looks even closer as Betis have agreed a deal to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir as his replacement.
All the signs are pointing towards Lo Celso making a move this summer, and Tottenham will be keen to get a deal done having chased him for some time now.
After hitting 16 goals from midfield last season, Lo Celso could be another huge midfield addition for Pochettino, and the notion that he’s asking to join Spurs is another sign of their pulling power.
Tottenham may need to offload Christian Eriksen first though, meaning this saga could rumble on a little longer, but it certainly seems that Spurs are ready to pounce after Lo Celso told Betis he wants to go.
