Report: Spurs could be without Mousa Dembele until 2019

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly learned that Mousa Dembele is likely to be missing for the rest of the calendar year.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Spurs star Mousa Dembele is facing spending the rest of the year on the sidelines after undergoing scans on the ankle injury that saw him replaced during the early stages of the weekend win over Wolves.

Dembele was replaced after just seven minutes at Molineux, and the Mail reports that Tottenham have learned that he will miss at least six weeks after damaging his ankle ligaments.

Should the Belgian miss the rest of the year, Mauricio Pochettino will have to lead his side through 12 games without the 31-year-old, who has already spent some time on the sidelines this term due to a thigh injury.

Could Dembele have already played his final game for Spurs?

The Mail reports that Dembele is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with a potential move to China during the January transfer window, with enquiries already made.

Given the speculation, it is perhaps not too far-fetched to suggest at this point that there is a chance that the seven-minute appearance at Wolves could prove to be the final time that Dembele plays for Tottenham.

It would be an incredibly sad way for Dembele’s Spurs career to end given how influential he has been since arriving from Fulham for £15 million, as reported by the Daily Mail. But with his contract looking set to expire if he sticks around, this latest injury may just tempt Tottenham to consider selling should they receive a lucrative offer when January arrives.
