Tottenham have made their first move to sign ACF Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who is viewed as a replacement to Tanguy Ndombele this January.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs have enquired about the Serie A star, who is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco. Despite signing for Fiorentina in 2020 for a reported £17m, Amrabat is believed to be open to a move.
As per the report, the midfielder isn’t settled in Florence, and Tottenham could be a potential landing spot for the former Club Brugge star should La Viola decide to cash in on the 25-year-old.
A player lauded by Breaking The Lines as ‘hugely talented’, Amrabat has caught the eye of pundits and supporters for some time, with Football Whispers even comparing the midfielder to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.
A progressive midfielder who enjoys taking the ball forward whilst also not being afraid to do dirty work in defence, Amrabat could be a suitable replacement for Ndombele in the Tottenham squad, with the Frenchman close to joining PSG on loan.
With Amrabat open to leaving Fiorentina this January and Tottenham looking for a midfielder, there’s a good chance that the Dutch-born Serie A star could make the move to north London in the final days of the transfer window.

Offloading Ndombele would be an impressive feat for Tottenham this January, and replacing him with a player like Amrabat would be quite an achievement from Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte.
Indeed, the 25-year-old is a midfielder not many Premier League clubs would look at as a replacement for a club-record signing. However, Amrabat could be perfect to take over from Ndombele in the Tottenham squad given his qualities.
