Tottenham reportedly looked into a deal for Nabil Fekir before signing Moussa Sissoko.

Tottenham sealed a big-money move for Moussa Sissoko on deadline day, but the London Evening Standard suggest that they also looked at Lyon’s Nabil Fekir.
Sissoko, 27, completed a last-minute move from Newcastle United to White Hart Lane, boosting Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield options.
Sissoko’s power, pace and drive mean that he could be seen as competition for Mousa Dembele in the centre of midfield, but his attacking ability and history of playing out wide or as an attacking midfielder mean he could play further forward.

Whilst Spurs moved to snap up one French international in Sissoko, they appear to have considered a move for another in Lyon star Nabil Fekir.
The London Evening Standard report that, along with Schalke’s Max Meyer and Dinamo Zagreb starlet Ante Coric, Spurs had looked into a move for Fekir, who has starred for Lyon over the last two years.
Fekir hit 15 goals during the 2014-15 season, becoming one of the top young stars in French football – but he missed most of last season with a knee injury, yet still managed to score four goals in nine games for Lyon.
Having chosen to sign Sissoko on deadline day, Spurs may not return for Fekir again – but they would be wise to keep him on their radar.
Sissoko’s similar skillset to Dembele means that he could be used in central midfield, meaning a more skilful playmaker should still be on Pochettino’s wishlist; almost the brains to go with Sissoko’s brawn.
Fekir fits the bill perfectly as an attacking midfielder who can both score and create, and his ability to also play up front could be appealing too. If Tottenham make it through the group stage of the Champions League, Pochettino should have some more money to play with in the January transfer market – and the skilful, technically gifted Fekir could bring another threat to Tottenham’s already dangerous attack.
