Tottenham Hotspur are convinced they will be able to sign Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin this summer, with Arsenal and Chelsea looking elsewhere.
The London Evening Standard believe that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘confident’ of completing the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton this summer as transfer talk continues to build.
Spurs have had their eye on Schneiderlin for some time, but they finally feel like they are in a position to land the Frenchman now.
Tottenham had tried to land the 25-year-old last summer, but found their efforts blocked and interest from elsewhere in the midfielder has grown since.
Arsenal and Chelsea have, as alluded to by the Standard, both been linked with the Southampton anchorman, but both clubs have other targets to consider.
The emergence of Francis Coquelin at Arsenal is said to have put Arsene Wenger off making a move, while Chelsea apparently want Atletico Madrid man Koke instead.
It leaves Spurs with a clear pathway to getting Schneiderlin, and they are confident that they will be able to get a deal over the line.
Tottenham are desperate to sign Schneiderlin and may offer either Andros Townsend or Benjamin Stambouli in an effort to tempt their Premier League rivals into a sale.
Townsend and Stambouli are both considered to be expendable players at White Hart Lane and Spurs feel that by offering them in part-exchange, Southampton will be more open to letting Schneiderlin leave.
