Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking at Denis Zakaria as they seemingly begin to prepare for life without Mousa Dembele.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Tottenham are keen on signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria as Mauricio Pochettino seemingly starts to prepare for life without Mousa Dembele.

As reported by Sky Sports, Dembele appears to be on his way out of Spurs during this window, with a move to China edging ever closer after the Premier League side accepted a bid for the Belgian.

Replacing him is not going to be an easy task. But Sky Sports suggest that Zakaria is a player that Spurs are tracking, with chief scout Steve Hitchen monitoring the 22-year-old ever since he joined the Bundesliga side in 2017.

Zakaria has enjoyed a decent season in Germany, making 15 appearances in the top flight for Gladbach and scoring once.

The Switzerland international would be an exciting signing for Tottenham should they decide to follow up their interest with a bid for the youngster.

Zakaria is versatile, capable of using his power and awareness to break up play before using his natural composure to pick out an impressive pass that can immediately put his side on the front foot.

So with Tottenham crying out for more options in the middle of the park, perhaps Zakaria may be the ideal option to come in and fill the void in Pochettino’s side.
