No sooner have Tottenham been linked to an exciting attacking signing, they have been ruled out of being able to complete the deal, with a mooted move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Hakan Calhanoglu unlikely to come off after former Manchester United star Javier Hernandez broke his hand on Tuesday, according to Sky Sports.
The North Londoners are in discussions regarding a number of transfers this week according to the report, with the majority players heading out of the club. The likes of Ryan Mason and DeAndre Yedlin are expected to complete moves to the North-East with Hull City and Newcastle United chasing them respectively, while rumours continue to surround the future of Tom Carroll, Nacer Chadli and Nabil Bentaleb.

But Sky are suggesting that Turkey and Leverkusen star Calhanoglu, who Mauricio Pochettino was said to be considering adding to the squad ahead of Tottenham’s return to the Champions League, will not be allowed to leave his club after Hernandez’s injury.
The striker fell down the stairs at home, according to the Bayer website, and is set to miss the first few weeks of the season. With Lars Bender also injured, manager Roger Schmidt will be reluctant to sanction a departure despite not seeing the 22-year-old as a first choice player in normal circumstances.

If Calhanoglu did move to White Hart Lane he would be linking up with his former teammate Heung-Min Son, having strangely advised the South Korean against making the move last year (ESPN).
Spurs would likely be a different animal this season in the attacking midfielder’s eyes, having shone in the Premier League last season and set to feature in the Champions League this year.
