According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur have already lodged an enquiry into the signing of Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi.

Berardi started for Italy in their 3-0 win over Turkey on Friday night, setting up the first goal – an own goal from Merih Demiral.

Berardi wasn’t 100% sharp in that game, but did create a few chances and looks set to feature for Italy on the right flank moving forward.

Tottenham and Paratici want him

This new report states that Tottenham have ‘knocked on the door’ of Sassuolo in an attempt to lure Berardi over to North London.

It’s claimed that new managing director Fabio Paratici is a long-term admirer of Berardi having wanted to sign him at Juventus for years.

Berardi now looks to be one of Paratici’s first major targets at Tottenham, potentially slotting him on the right wing and allowing him to cut inside onto his left foot – a possible hint that Gareth Bale won’t be back next season.

Tottenham face battle with Arsenal

Tottenham aren’t alone in wanting Berardi though, as the report claims that Arsenal and Manchester United have also asked about a potential deal.

It’s hard to see Arsenal wanting him; they already have two left-footed wingers in Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka, whilst youngsters Gabriel Martinelli and Reiss Nelson also play out wide.

That may just be agent talk. Tottenham’s interest seems more viable, and using the name of their bitter rivals to spark an offer from Paratici may be the plan in mind here.
