According to A Bola, Sporting have bowed out of the race for Liverpool talent Rafael Camacho, as they’re unable to pay the £8million required.

Camacho, 18, won’t have been a name that many Liverpool fans were overly familiar with coming into 2019, but he’s been making headlines since the turn of the year.

The teenager made a first start in the FA Cup against Wolves, and now looks set to leave given that his contract ends in 2020, and talks have stalled over a new deal according to Sky Sports.

Liverpool won’t want to see their contract rebel walk away next year, and A Bola claim that a €9.2million (£8million) asking price has been set for Camacho.

That’s allegedly too much for Sporting to pay, as they would only be able to put forward €5million (£4.3million) to re-sign their former prospect, which Liverpool would have little interest in.

Camacho was born in Lisbon and joined the Sporting ranks back in 2008, but left in 2013 for Manchester City, and a return to his former club appears to be off the table.

With Record claiming that Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Wolves are the main players involved for Camacho’s signature, they will all be encouraged by another club pulling out of the race – and a summer fight could still take place for the winger-turned-wing back.
