Eddie Howe has given a signal and told friends that he wants to take the Newcastle United job, the Daily Star report.
Howe to Newcastle?
Howe has been strongly linked with the post at Newcastle, which is expected to become vacant soon.
Steve Bruce has fallen under increasing pressure after the Magpies lost their first game under new ownership to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
However, according to the latest update, Bruce is still expecting to take charge of Newcastle’s next match.
Bruce to extend stay?
The Magpies are set to take on Crystal Palace, and as the game draws closer, Bruce thinks his stay at St. James’ Park may well be extended for another game.
If that is to be the case then Newcastle’s new owners really do risk receiving some criticism from the fan-base before they have really got going.

The encouraging news for Newcastle fans is that plenty of managers seem to want the job.
And Howe, who has been described as a ‘special’ manager by his former player Brett Pitman (Daily Echo), is one of the names who is reportedly very keen to take the job on Tyneside.
The former Bournemouth boss has apparently privately told his close friends that he is keen on getting back into management with Newcastle.
If Howe did join Newcastle he would do so with a point to prove.
The 43-year-old was once considered to be one of the best up-and-coming managers in English football, but a relegation with Bournemouth in 2020 has counted against him.
If he was to take the Newcastle job, Howe would immediately be embroiled in another battle against the drop too.
Newcastle have taken just three points from their opening eight games this term, which has left them in 19th place in the Premier League table.
