Raheem Sterling is unhappy with his role at Manchester City, amid rumours that Arsenal want to sign him, the Athletic report.
The Daily Mail say that Sterling is very much in Arsenal’s plans as they look to sign the winger from City.
At first the rumoured move looked to be an ambitious one, but it starts to make more sense, as more reports emerge.
Sterling has lost his place as a mainstay in City’s starting line-up this season, with Pep Guardiola often favouring other options over the player he once called ‘special’ (BBC Sport).
That has reportedly left the Arsenal target ‘dissatisfied’ with the way Guardiola is using him.
Sterling actually was handed the chance to start in the Champions League final, but his performance was poor – as City slipped to a 1-0 defeat.
Sterling would rapidly become a key player again if he was to move to Arsenal, although funding a deal would surely prove problematic for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Arsenal are shopping on a limited budget and Sterling would not come cheaply.
If the Gunners could find a way to fund a deal for the England international he could be a remarkable signing, though.
Sterling has been one of the Premier League’s most dangerous attacking players over a number of years, and he would add more threat to Arteta’s side’s front line if he was to arrive.
