It looks like the end is nigh for Serge Aurier at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move away from North London for much of the summer.

At the start of the window, there was speculation about Mauricio Pochettino – who spent £23 million on taking him to Spurs in 2017 – bringing him to Paris Saint-Germain.

But in recent weeks, much of the talk has centered around AC Milan swooping for the former PSG right-back.

And according to a report from Il Resto del Carlino, a departure is ‘close’ amid speculation of a switch to San Siro.

Fortunate

If Aurier secures a move to AC Milan, it’ll show just how fortunate he is.

That’s because despite being a defender, the 28-year-old is more than a touch suspect defensively.

There’s nobody who can doubt that Aurier has been a brilliant player going forward for Tottenham at times during his four-year spell in N17.

Remember, this is a player who Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola labelled ‘so good‘ in April following a League Cup final, which underlines the good things about him.

But, by the same token, he costs the Lilywhites quite a lot of goals, mainly through stupid errors, and if he gets a move to one of Italy’s great football clubs then it’ll be stunning.
