Jose Fonte has spent six years at Southampton, but could he leave?

Spartak Moscow have earmarked Southampton captain Jose Fonte as a possible signing, according to Russian site Match TV.
The 32-year-old defender is one of Southampton’s most important players and fans might dread the idea of losing him, having already lost manager Ronald Koeman and popular midfielder Victor Wanyama already this summer.
Fonte, who won Euro 2016 with Portugal in the summer, is part of the furniture at St Mary’s having spent six years at the club.

But Match TV report that Spartak Moscow will attempt to lure him to the Russian capital before September’s deadline day.
That being said, the report goes on to state that the Russian side will only pursue the Southampton star if they are unable to tempt Vedran Corluka from cross-city rivals Lokomotiv.

Given the rivalry between both clubs, though, it might seem unlikely that Lokomotiv would sell the Croatian defender to Spartak.
Fonte made 37 Premier League appearances for Southampton last season, and started Portugal’s last four games in the European Championships – including the final.
