La Liga outfit Celta Vigo have reportedly turned to Southampton’s Hoedt after failing to sign Jairo Riedewald from Premier League strugglers Palace.

If all goes well, Sofiane Boufal will not be the only Southampton loanee plying his trade at Celta Vigo until the end of the season.
According to Faro de Vigo, Celta are making a move to re-unite Boufal with his former St Mary’s team-mate Wesley Hoedt with the Dutch international having been given the green light to go during the January transfer window.
A £15 million signing from Lazio in 2017 (BBC), Hoedt hasn’t played a game since Ralph Hasenhuttl replaced Mark Hughes in the dugout.
And, speaking to Sky Sports recently, the former RB Leipzig boss admitted that the 24-year-old was free to follow Manolo Gabbiadini and Steven Davis out of the door.
It is understood that Hoedt is now set to join Celta Vigo on loan and he will be tasked with helping the 2017 Europa League semi-finalists avoid relegating from La Liga. They are currently 17th, one point above the bottom three.

Interestingly, Faro de Vigo reports that Celta have turned to Hoedt after backing out of a deal for the £7.9 million Crystal Palace flop Jairo Riedewald.
The 22-year-old, who arrived from Ajax during the ill-fated reign of Frank de Boer, hasn’t made a Premier League appearance all season.
