According to The Athletic, Alexandre Jankewitz has submitted a transfer request at Southampton after growing frustrated at St Mary’s.
The 19-year-old does not see a clear pathway into Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, and is keen to leave in order to obtain regular first-team football.
Furthermore, The Athletic add that Jankewitz no longer wants to play academy football, as those around him feel regular senior football is needed to benefit his development.
The Switzerland Under-21 international was said to have been assured he’d be given a chance by Hasenhuttl.
However, his only first-team involvement has been stepping off the bench in the 85th minute in the FA Cup against Shrewsbury.

The Athletic say that there is concrete interest in the teenager from FC Groningen.
Southampton are reluctant to lose the Vevey-born midfield maestro, who they paid £1.35 million for in 2018 after beating Tottenham, Manchester United and Juventus to his signature, as Tutto Mercato Web state.

He is very highly rated, with one former coach of his likening the youngster’s playing style to that of a young Paul Pogba, as The Athletic detailed.
Jankewitz still has 18 months left on his contract, so Southampton aren’t in a position where they need to sell the wantaway prospect.
