The Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster is set to undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of a return to Celtic, according to The Sun.

Celtic recently lost Scott Bain to a dislocated thumb, leaving them in need of extra cover in goal.

And with Forster currently behind Angus Gunn and Alex McCarthy in Southampton’s plans, a move to Celtic Park appears to suit all parties.

It is unclear whether Forster’s transfer would be permanent or a loan, although the latter seems more likely considering his reported £70,000-a-week wages [Spotrac].

It was at Celtic that the England International made his name, after being signed by the current Bhoys manager Neil Lennon from the 31-year-old’s boyhood club Newcastle United.

But Forster’s form north of the border saw Southampton come calling five years ago, with the Saints reported to have paid £10 million to take him to St Mary’s.
