According to the Daily Mail, Southampton don’t want to accept a swap deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – and they are unlikely to pursue Kyle Walker-Peters permanently.
It’s claimed that Tottenham want to sign Hojbjerg, but Southampton have slapped a £35million price tag on the Dane’s head.
They believe the fee is fair given his position as captain, his ability as a player and their reluctance to let him go.
That price is likely to be beyond Tottenham this summer. Spurs have been hit by the global pandemic, and will have to dial back spending plans as a result.
They may want to offer players to Southampton to bring the price down. However, Southampton allegedly only want cash, and have ruled out part-exchange or swap deals.
Spurs defender Walker-Peters is on loan at Southampton right now, so he would have made sense. However, the Saints are unlikely to take him permanently.

This leaves Tottenham in a tricky spot. 24-year-old Hojbjerg fits what Jose Mourinho wants as a reliable, battling midfielder with leadership qualities.
However, with Southampton unwilling to budge right now, it’s hard to see him joining Spurs. They may have to play a waiting game with him, as his contract runs out in 2021.
