Southampton are interested in signing Neco Williams from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to HampshireLive.

It has been reported that right-back Williams is on the shortlist of potential targets for Southampton.

Brandon Williams of Manchester United is also claimed to be of interest to the Saints.

Going out on loan to Southampton?

It is hard to see Liverpool sell Williams this summer.

The Wales international is only 20 years of age and has made only a handful of appearances for the first team so far in his career.

If Williams leaves, then it is likely to be on a loan deal.

The Wales international will surely want to make it big at Liverpool, but at the moment, there is the small matter of Trent Alexander-Arnold in his way.

Alexander-Arnold is one of the best right-backs in the world.

The England international is the first-choice right-back, and Williams would find it hard to get in the team ahead of him.

Joining Southampton on a loan deal might not be a bad idea.

Yes, Williams will still have to work extremely hard to get into the team, but he will have a better chance of doing so at Southampton.

However, any potential transfer deal will probably have to wait a while.

That’s because Williams is on international duty with Wales at the Euro 2020 finals.
