The striker has failed to impress since moving to Southampton.
According to a report from the Daily Echo, Southampton are trying to offload Guido Carrillo permanently this summer, rather than send him out on loan again.
The 28-year-old joined the Saints from Monaco in January 2018 for a club record deal believed to be worth £19 million, according to BBC Sport, but he struggled to establish himself at St Mary’s.
He is still yet to score a goal for Southampton, and was farmed out to Leganes on loan last term, where he bagged six La Liga goals.
The Daily Echo claims that Leganes have approached the Saints with a view to taking the Argentine on loan again for another season, but the south coast club would prefer to sell the striker on a permanent deal.
The Southampton-based newspaper claims that the Saints are looking to recoup as much of the money that they paid for Carrillo just a year and a half ago as they can.
Considering his struggles over the past 18 months, however, Southampton will surely do well to sell him for even half the amount that they paid Monaco for his services in 2018.
