Southampton are reportedly keen on Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.

According to The Mirror, Southampton are keen to bring in defender Gary Cahill from Chelsea during the January transfer window.
The Saints lost 2-0 at home to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon, meaning they have now have just one win in their first eight games of the Premier League season.
Mark Hughes watched on as Eden Hazard and Ross Barkley found the net on Sunday, leaving the Saints just two points clear of the bottom three in a dismal start to the campaign.
Despite bringing in Jannik Vestergaard over the summer, Southampton are struggling at the back, with only Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield Town conceding more than their 14 goals this term.
An experienced centre back now appears to be a target, as The Mirror claim that Hughes wants to bring Cahill to St Mary’s Stadium when the January transfer window opens.
Cahill, 32, has racked up nearly 300 appearances for Chelsea and more than 60 for England, but has slipped down the Chelsea pecking order this season under Maurizio Sarri.

The former Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers man may want first-team football and January, and is believed to have a host of Premier League clubs keen to sign him in January.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Southampton could target a bargain in January, with Hughes seemingly looking for a favour from his former club – if the under-fire boss makes it to the next transfer window.
