Southampton have been linked with the Caen winger and their new manager is allegedly keen to get a deal done quickly.

According to a report from the Sun, Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino is desperate to sign Caen attacker Yann Karamoh this summer, and is hopeful the player’s current contract dispute can be resolved sooner rather than later.

The 18-year-old has one year left on his remaining contract and has allegedly been advised by his lawyer to run down his deal and leave for free in 12 months. However, Caen are understandably keen to sell him now and Southampton are said to be watching the situation very closely.

Karamoh is a right winger who can also operate on the opposite flank or up front, and his versatility means he would come in very handy at St. Mary’s were he to arrive.

The teenager featured 36 times for Caen last season, scoring five goals and providing four assists in the process and for the money being suggested he could represent a bargain for Southampton if he ultimately fulfils his potential.

The problem for Pellegrino is that if Karamoh insists on running down his contract, a whole host of clubs could be in for him next summer, and it remains to be seen if Southampton would still want a player who opts not to allow his current club to cash in on him when his time there has run its course.

Southampton have impressed in the transfer market for many years now and if Karamoh does ultimately arrive, he could be another name to add to the plus column.
