According to the Daily Mail, Everton’s chief scout Martyn Glover is wanted by Southampton, where he would become their new head of recruitment.

Southampton have been undergoing major changes of late, as chairman Ralph Krueger left the club last week whilst vice-chairman Les Reed became The FA’s technical director in December.

Add in the sacking of Mark Hughes and appointment of Ralph Hasenhuttl, and it’s clear that Southampton feel major changes have been required in order to get the club moving forward again.

Highly-rated Ross Wilson will play a key role in the summer transfer plans as director of football, but a head of recruitment is wanted to work alongside him, with one man identified.

The Daily Mail report that Southampton want Everton chief scout Glover to take the head of recruitment role, adding more know-how around Wilson.

Glover has been with Everton since 2016, and has already been a head of recruitment in the past, working in that role at Sunderland.

A former PE teacher, Glover also had roles at West Ham United, Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers, meaning he would bring experience to the role.

That appears to be key for Southampton, and taking a bigger role from chief scout to head of recruitment may well tempt Glover into leaving Goodison Park this summer.
