According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic talent Leo Hjelde is on the radar of Southampton ahead of a possible summer move.
It’s claimed that the Saints are keeping close tabs on Hjelde, who is currently out on loan with Ross County, who are struggling at the wrong end of the Scottish Premiership table.
Hjelde, 17, joined Celtic from Rosenborg in his native Norway back in 2019, and it looked like the Bhoys had landed a real talent for the future.
Hjelde has trained with Celtic’s first team before despite being so young, and his January loan move to Ross County was seen as a way to get him first-team action.
The defender has so far made nine appearances for Ross County, scoring one goal in a 3-2 win over Kilmarnock, and boss John Hughes has backed him for a ‘massive’ future.
The teenager is primarily a left back, but he can also fill in as a centre back when needed, and Celtic will have been hoping to develop him into a first-team player at Parkhead.

However, Southampton are now looking into signing Hjelde, having previously raided the Bhoys for Fraser Forster, Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and Stuart Armstrong.
Hjelde would very much be one for the future, but with Ryan Bertrand’s future at left back a little unclear amid contract uncertainty, the Saints could plan for the coming years with a move for Hjelde.
