Southampton are keen to sign DeAndre Yedlin from Premier League rivals Newcastle United, although highly-rated youngster Alexandre Jankewitz could leave St Mary’s for Barcelona, according to reports.

While the Saints finally, mercifully, managed to get a new midfielder through the door in the shape of Ibrahima Diallo, Ralph Hasenhuttl and co still have work to do before the window slams shut this evening.

It is no secret that Southampton had been hoping to snap up another right-back, despite turning Kyle Walker-Peter’s loan deal into a permanent transfer.

After missing out on the likes of Deyovaisio Zeefuik, Matty Cash and Rick Karsdorp, the Telegraph (5 October, 12.45pm) reports that they will now turn to a man with almost 130 Premier League appearances under his belt.

USA international Yedlin has fallen out of favour at Newcastle and was left out of the matchday squad for Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Burnley.

It remains to be seen if Yedlin would be available for loan or whether, with just a few months left on his contract, the Magpies are determined to sell.

Turning our attention to potential outgoings, TMW reports that Southampton’s Swiss starlet Jankewitz is a target for La Liga giants Barcelona and ambitious Serie A outfit Parma.

The 18-year-old midfielder is yet to make a first-team appearance for the club, having joined from Servette in 2018.
