Southampton are in talks with Everton over a season-long loan deal for Tom Davies, according to talkSPORT.
The Toffees academy graduate shot to fame after breaking into the first team in 2016/17.
He scored a dinked finish over Claudio Bravo in only his second league start as Everton thrashed Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City 4-0, as reported by the BBC.
Such a breakthrough saw inevitable hype ensue.
Adrian Durham, of talkSPORT, likened Davies to Steven Gerrard, to which the midfielder replied: “To even be compared to him is just good to hear.
“I wouldn’t say I’m exactly the same as him. My main focus is improving my game.”

Southampton are on the lookout for a new midfielder after selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harrison Reed this summer, while Mario Lemina has also departed.
In that respect, it could be a shrewd move by Ralph Hasenhuttl to secure the 22-year-old on loan.
Davies has more than enough experience at this level. He has 106 Premier League appearances to his name and 17 caps for the England Under-21 side.

Unfortunately for him, Carlo Ancelotti has signed midfielders James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure, so his chances of game time appear slim.
The Toffees have started the season on fire, winning both their Premier League games and scoring six goals in the process.
In contrast, Southampton have lost both their games and appear to be in need of midfield reinforcements.
