Southampton are reportedly keen on the French defender.
According to a report from the Sun, Southampton are interested in signing Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien this summer.
The 24-year-old centre-back is seen as a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk if the Dutchman leaves St. Mary’s in the close season, with Southampton manager Claude Puel said to accept that his talisman will be moving on at the end of the current campaign.
While the Saints have got used to losing key players over the last few years, Van Dijk’s departure will be particularly big given his impact at the club and his blossoming talent.
Jullien has featured 32 times for Toulouse this season, scoring five goals in the process, and Puel has already proved astute when it comes to the transfer window so he will know what he is doing if he does bring his countryman to England.
Having come through the youth ranks at Auxerre before a brief spell in Germany, Jullien will surely be desperate to make the next step and if Saints come calling he may find it hard to refuse.
That said the player has a contract until the summer of 2020 so Southampton may have to dig relatively deep to get their man; something that should not be a problem if they get what they are asking for Van Dijk.
