Southampton look set to sell Ryan Bertrand over Matt Targett.

According to the Daily Mail, Southampton will promote left back Matt Targett to first choice next season, and are likely to sell Ryan Bertrand as a result.
The Saints will be making big changes to their side this summer, as Ralph Hasenhuttl will be tackling his first summer transfer window at St Mary’s Stadium.
Winger Moussa Djenepo is in, and the youth movement will continue, with Southampton open to selling experienced defender Bertrand to Inter Milan or Atletico Madrid in a shock move.
Southampton’s intention is to promote Targett to first-choice left back, handing him that role to keep him on the South Coast.
Targett, 23, has come up through the famed Southampton academy, and whilst he showed real promise under Hasenhuttl, he has been linked away.
The Sun claim that Aston Villa want to sign Targett to solve their left back problems, whilst 90Min believe Liverpool are keen to bring him in as competition for Andy Robertson following Alberto Moreno’s exit.

Southampton’s plan to offload Bertrand and give Targett a starring role should be enough to keep him out of the clutches of their Premier League rivals.
That means Liverpool, Villa and a host of other interested clubs will have to look elsewhere for a new left back, barring a surprise change of heart by Hasenhuttl and the Saints.
