The Argentine could turn out to be an excellent signing for Southampton.
A report emanating from France today suggests that the Saints could wrap up a deal to sign Monaco hitman Guido Carrillo within the next 24 hours, according to French media publication L’Equipe.
Southampton have agreed a fee thought to be in the region of £19.1 million for the Argentine, according to L’Equipe, as Mauricio Pellegrino looks to bolster his attacking ranks at St Mary’s.
The 26-year-old has played a peripheral role for the Ligue 1 outfit this term, making just two league starts all season, along with 13 substitute appearances, although he has managed to score four goals.
He is a lively forward, with his game being based around energy and his willingness to make tireless runs into the channels – attributes that will make him the ideal strike partner for either Manolo Gabbiadini or Shane Long.
Whilst the transfer is not yet complete, Carrillo is certainly a player for Saints to get excited about, and they will be hoping that he can add some South American flair to the Southampton setup.
And after L’Equipe’s report, Southampton fans should expect to hear an announcement regarding Carrillo imminently.
