Southampton are reportedly keen to bring Stevan Jovetic back to the Premier League as Mauricio Pellegrino tries to end their goalscoring woes.

Southampton have made a poor start to the Premier League season, having scored just nine times in their opening 11 top flight games this term.

Pellegrino’s men have managed to score more than once in a league game on just two occasions all season, and both of those came against a newly-promoted side – so it could certainly be argued that it is clear where the Saints must strengthen in January if they hope to build on the progress they have made in recent years.
And it appears that they are looking to add to their options up front. The Mirror reports that the Saints want to sign Jovetic from the Ligue 1 giants, who only signed the Montenegro international from Inter Milan in the summer.

The Mirror adds that Jovetic is unhappy with the principality club, having featured just five times in the top flight this term.
Whether Jovetic – who, of course, spent a couple of years on Manchester City’s books earlier in his career – is the right man to solve Southampton’s goalscoring woes is certainly up for debate.
The 28-year-old has scored once this season and has not reached double figures for a league campaign since leaving Fiorentina for the Etihad Stadium in 2013.
But it appears that Pellegrino is potentially interested in giving him a second chance in the Premier League by bringing him to St Mary’s during the upcoming window.
