Southampton are at the front of the queue to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker-Peters on loan.

It has been a fairly quiet window in terms of incomings down on the south coast. The Saints broke their transfer record to sign Monaco striker Guido Carrillo, but that is currently the only signing that they have made this month.

Walker-Peters started and starred in Tottenham’s opening game of the season away at Newcastle, but he has managed to make just one league appearance since, with the likes of Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier keeping him out of the team.

The Sun adds that Swansea are also keen on Walker-Peters, but Southampton are currently at the front of the queue as Pellegrino looks to give Cedric Soares more cover at right-back.
Southampton and Tottenham will both be in the draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup. But while the Saints put themselves in the hat with a win in a fairly uninspiring game against Watford, Pochettino’s men will share a number with Newport County after the two sides drew at Rodney Parade and will need a replay.
