The Southampton manager has reportedly identified a couple of former players ahead of the winter window.

The new Southampton manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl, intends to return to Germany for January reinforcements, according to the Daily Mirror (December 11, page 53).
The newspaper reports that the Hertha Berlin striker, Davie Selke, is top of the Austrian’s list, which also includes the Leipzig central defender, Dayot Upamecano.
It is claimed that Selke, who has only scored once in 12 Bundesliga appearances this season, would cost Southampton £14 million, with Upamecano said to have a price tag of £30 million.
Both players played under Hasenhuttl at RB Lepizig, but Selke moved to Hertha at the start of last season – in which he scored 10 goals from 27 league outings.

Hasenhuttl lost his first game in charge of Southampton at the weekend, leaving his new side in 19th place and three points from safety in the Premier League.
And a productive January window could be key to the Saints’ survival hopes.
