Southampton are reportedly plotting a move for Celtic’s Tom Rogic.

According to the Daily Record, Southampton are interested in signing Celtic playmaker Tom Rogic after watching him in action against Rangers on Sunday.

Rogic, 25, joined Celtic from Melbourne Victory in his native Australia back in 2013, and he looked to be something of a flop before blossoming in the 2015-16 campaign with 10 goals.

Last season, Rogic found the net 12 times, and he has added eight goals and eight assists this season in another strong campaign, even if he has been in and out of the Celtic side.

The worry for Celtic is that Rogic’s contract expires in the summer of 2019, meaning he is entering the final year of his deal and could be eyeing an exit this summer or in a year’s time when he can leave for free.

Tomas Rogic of Celtic is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Hibernian and Celtic at Easter Road on April 21, 2018 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Daily Record now report that Southampton sent director of recruitment and scouting Ross Wilson to watch Celtic in action against Rangers on Sunday, and the Scot was watching Rogic.

Rogic scored the fourth goal in a 5-0 win for Celtic and was superb throughout, which may just tempt Southampton into making a move before he has the chance to impress at the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Celtic have sold the likes of Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk to Southampton in recent years, and they may now have to try and fend off the Saints as they pursue Rogic this summer.
