Southampton, West Ham United, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have been linked with Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna.
According to renowned Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio of Sky Sports Italia, Southampton have tabled a £7.8 million bid for coveted Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna.
The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move away from Turin this summer, with a host of Premier League clubs eyeing him as an ideal, experienced centre-back acquisition.
The Mirror credits West Ham United with holding a strong interest and Tottenham Hotspur, as per TMW, Aston Villa, also as per TMW and Everton, according to the Liverpool Echo, are similarly named as suitors.
Yet, it is the Saints who are pushing ahead with their alleged interest as fresh reports claim the South Coast outfit have tabled an offer which Juve are mulling over.
“The duel for Angelo Ogbonna: Everton and Southampton are very active in their bid for the defender, especially the Saints who offer €11 million [£7.8m] plus bonuses, Juventus thinks,” the report says.
Are Saints the best option for Angelo Ogbonna?
If reports are to be believed, the 27-year-old has a host of options out there, with the pick of a bunch of Premier League clubs at his disposal.
Southampton are an attractive proposition due to the offer of Europa League football, the influence of popular manager Ronald Koeman plus their new found status as an established top-flight club.
But more appealing could be the guarantee of first-team football, with the Saints light on options at the back and European football likely to prompt a 50-game (at least) campaign.
