According to the Daily Mail, Southampton, Norwich and Watford have all made offers for Blackburn striker Adam Armstrong.
However, he wants to join Crystal Palace.
What’s the story?
Well, it’s no surprise to see the Premier League quartet chasing Armstrong.
The 24-year-old scored 29 goals in all competitions for Blackburn last season, in what was an outstanding individual campaign.
Patrick Vieira’s side are said to have also seen a bid rebuffed, but they remain in advanced talks with Rovers.
Selhurst Park is believed to be Armstrong’s preferred destination, according to the Daily Mail.
Blackburn are demanding £20m for their No.7, who has just one year left on his contract at Ewood Park.
Adam Armstrong plays like Danny Ings
If you aren’t too familiar with the Englishman, Stats Bomb made an interesting comparison after examining the forward’s statistical data.
They likened him to Danny Ings, who – coincidentally – Southampton are trying to replace after selling him to Aston Villa for £30m.
Both men are fairly diminutive forwards, who boast exquisite movement in and around the penalty area.
Both Ings and Armstrong are also deadly finishers.
Evidently, with £30m in their pocket, Southampton can afford to meet Blackburn’s asking price.
However, if they are to sign Ings 2.0, it seems they must convince him to ignore a move to Selhurst Park – his preferred destination.
