Anderlecht’s Samuel Bastien could be bound for St. Mary’s.
Southampton could be set to make their third summer signing
Southampton have ‘moved quickly to set up’ a £3 million deal for Anderlecht youngster Samuel Bastien, the Sun reports (Wednesday edition, page 51).
Bastien was on the verge of a move to Liverpool earlier this summer, according to reports in the Italian media. However, the 19-year-old playmaker could be bound for England’ south coast instead.
The latest bright spark in an Anderlecht side which also contains Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet, Bastien spent the 2015-16 campaign on loan to Italian side Avellino.
Youri Tielemans is another highly-rated Anderlecht youngster
He scored twice in 31 appearances for the Serie B outfit, who finished 14th in the standings, but has since returned to his parent club, for whom he has made just two appearances to date.
And with Bastien’s contract due to expire next summer, he could be moved on before his valuation depreciates further.
Anderlecht’s Dennis Praet has previously been linked with the Saints
Born in Meux, less than an hour from the Belgian capital, Brussels, the teenager has been capped once by the Red Devils’ Under-21 side.
The Sun reports that goalkeeper Alex McCarthy could also be en route to St. Mary’s, with Crystal Palace set to sanction the 26-year-old’s departure.
