Southampton have reportedly made the seven-figure offer for Birmingham City talisman Che Adams.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Southampton have seen a new £8 million bid for Che Adams rejected by Birmingham City as Ralph Hasenhuttl looks to finally land the striker.
Adams enjoyed an outstanding campaign in the Championship, scoring 22 goals to help ensure that Garry Monk’s men were in no danger of being relegated despite suffering a nine point points deduction during the latter stages of the season.
The Mail reports that the Blues rejected an offer from the Saints for the 22-year-old during the January transfer window with a transfer embargo preventing Monk from landing a replacement, and have now knocked back a bid of around £8 million at the start of the summer.
It would be no surprise if Southampton returned with a fresh offer before too long. The Mail reports that Hasenhuttl is keen to strengthen his options and Charlie Austin is likely to be on the way out of St Mary’s.
Adams looks to have the potential to be a really exciting addition to the Saints squad following a campaign in which their top goalscorers finished with seven strikes in the top flight.
Birmingham will clearly not make it easy for Hasenhuttl to get his man through the door. But given that there have been bids in the last two windows, it looks as though the Saints are in no mood to take no for an answer in their pursuit of the striker.
