West Bromwich Albion are keen to sign Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion have had a £12 million bid for Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez rejected.

West Brom are looking to complete a deadline day deal for Rodriguez, as Tony Pulis looks to strengthen his forward line.

Southampton's Jay Rodriguez scores their first goal

The Baggies have already targeted a number of high profile players this month, but their attempts to get signings in at the Hawthorns have proven fruitless.

West Brom’s move for Rodriguez has so far been unsuccessful too, with Southampton keen to keep the 27-year-old.

However, Southampton could relent, if they are able to bring Napoli forward Manolo Gabbiadini in today.

Claude Puel’s side have already had a bid accepted for Gabbiadini, and are expected to bring the target-man centre-forward to St. Mary’s in the near future.

Rodriguez has played fairly regularly for Southampton this season, but he is still searching for his top goalscoring form, after suffering a serious injury.

At the moment a move to the Hawthorns appears unlikely, but the transfer could be one to keep an eye on as deadline day progresses.
