Southampton have reportedly watched the 30-year-old on several occasions this season.
A report in the Daily Star has claimed that Southampton have entered the race to sign Genoa midfielder Miguel Veloso.
The Daily Star reports that the 30-year-old is out of contract in the summer, so could well be on the move just months after joining the Serie A outfit.

And while the Star adds that La Liga giants Valencia may try and force Genoa into a decision during the January window, they also suggest that that may tempt Southampton into making a swoop of their own.
The Star reports that the Saints have watched the Portugal international on several occasions this season as Claude Puel looks to bolster his ranks after a promising start to the season.
Veloso playing for Portugal
Southampton are currently 10th in the Premier League table, have an EFL Cup quarter-final on the horizon and look to be in with an excellent chance of reaching the knockout phases of the Europa League.
And having someone of Veloso’s quality and experience in the squad – perhaps from January onward – should give them a greater chance of kicking on after their strong start to the campaign.
