Southampton are reportedly keen on Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater.

According to The Mirror, Southampton are one of the clubs interested in snapping up Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater before the August transfer deadline.
The Blues swooped to sign Drinkwater from Leicester City last summer, but started just five Premier League games as he struggled to play any sort of role under Antonio Conte.
Drinkwater, 28, subsequently fell completely out of the reckoning to feature for England at the World Cup, and his chance of success have been dented again by the arrival of Jorginho.
Now, it seems that Drinkwater is ready to move on, and The Mirror report that Southampton are keen to take him on loan for the season, as are Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.
The Saints have already added one midfielder this summer in Celtic’s Stuart Armstrong, but Mark Hughes may now look to raid his former club by proposing a loan move for Drinkwater, though Chelsea may still need him for homegrown quota reasons.
The report may just be of interest to West Ham United too; not because of their own links to Drinkwater earlier this summer, but because of their interest in Southampton ace Mario Lemina.

Sky Sports claimed just days ago that, if West Ham sell Pedro Obiang, then they will look to bring in Lemina as his replacement, just one year since the Gabon international left Juve for Southampton.
Adding Drinkwater may just hint that Lemina could be on his way before the transfer deadline, strengthening the rumours about a move to East London if Hughes does make a move to sign Drinkwater.
