Report: Southampton pass on Everton 23-year-old

Southampton have passed on the chance to sign Jonjoe Kenny from Everton in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Star.

It has been reported that the Saints are on the verge of signing Kyle Walker-Peters from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Walker-Peters spent the second half of the past season on loan at the Saints from Spurs.

However, according to The Daily Star, the Saints had the chance to sign 23-year-old right Kenny from Everton, but they decided to pass on.

Everton spell

Kenny has been on the books of Everton since 2006, but the 23-year-old has yet to established himself as a regular in the starting lineup.

The Englishman has made only a handful of appearances for the Toffees’ first team, and was on loan at Schalke this past season.

According to WhoScored, the right-back scored two goals and provided three assists in 31 Bundesliga matches for Schalke in 2019-20.

Leon Bailey speculation

Meanwhile, the agent of reported Everton target Leon Bailey has commented on the winger’s future.

According to Sport1, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the 22-year-old Jamaica international winger from Bayer this summer.

Agent Aidy Ward said, as quoted in Football.London: “The club [Leverkusen] told his stepfather that he can go for a certain amount. As soon as I have spoken to the club and the situation is clear, we will know what to do.”
