Southampton are looking for their new manager following Claude Puel’s recent departure.
Mauricio Pellegrino
A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Southampton are considering approaching Frank De Boer and Mauricio Pellegrino as they look for Claude Puel’s successor, while Ryan Giggs wants the job at St Mary’s.
The club confirmed earlier this week what had seemingly been on the cards for a while when they announced that Puel had left the club after just one season which saw the Saints finish eighth and reach an EFL Cup final.

The fans had voiced their displeasure at the often dull brand of football on display, and the side finished some way off the kind of points totals they have become used to accumulating in recent years.
The Mail suggests that Pellegrino – whose most recent job came with Spanish side Alaves – and De Boer are two of the candidates on the shortlist.
De Boer was sacked by Inter Milan back in November – less than a month after the Nerazzurri had beaten the Saints in the Europa League – but enjoyed a fantastic spell in charge of Ajax before his move to San Siro.

Meanwhile, the Mail adds that Giggs is keen on taking the role. But it remains to be seen whether the Southampton hierarchy want to take a chance on the Welshman given that his managerial career spans four games.
But having turned to somewhat surprise names in the past – the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Puel would have been names that few Saints fans would have really known about before their respective appointments – perhaps it would not be out of the question to suggest that Giggs cannot be ruled out.
